FlexCharge is currently designed for residential customers who charge at home on their own individual Ameren Illinois electric account. The program works best for customers in single-family homes or units where EV charging is billed directly to your personal electric account.
If you live in an apartment, condo, or other multi-unit dwelling, your eligibility depends on your specific charging setup:
- You may qualify if you have a dedicated home charging station or circuit that is billed exclusively to your personal electric account (for example, some townhomes or ground-floor units with private parking and a dedicated meter).
- You likely do not qualify if your EV charging runs through a shared meter, a common area circuit, or any electrical service not directly tied to your individual account.
We recognize that multi-unit dwelling residents face unique barriers to EV charging access and are actively exploring ways to expand FlexCharge eligibility to renters and multi-unit properties in the future.
